Our history is characterized by continuity coupled with delight in innovation. The company was founded as an electrotechnical operation for building installations. 1922 saw the first manufacture of direct current starters and lever switches - really the birth of the control unit specialist ELEKTRA. No matter whether it was the introduction of alternating current or the age of innovation starting in 1948: the history of electricity is closely tied to our product developments. Just one example: in 1954, barrel switches were replaced by cam switches, a technology for which ELEKTRA played a major role. We continue to be one of the leaders in this field.
